WHAT IS A GENERATOR CONTROLLER?

You can think of your generator control panel as the brain of your generator. It’s where all the magic happens! The generator control panel is a critical component of any generator system and is responsible for controlling the operation of your generator. It allows you to start, stop, and adjust the engine speed of your generator to maintain a constant power output level. In addition, it also acts as an indicator that lets you know what condition your generator is in at all times. Generator control panel is also known as generator controller.

DETECTING VOLTAGE DROP

The generator controller detects voltage drops in the generator and prevents the voltage from dropping too low. This is important because if the voltage drops too low, it will damage the generator.

The generator controller will also see if there is a problem with the engine itself or if there is another source of power loss. If the controller detects a problem with the engine, it will shut down the generator. This is because if there is a problem with the engine, it will not be able to provide enough power for your home or business. If the controller detects a problem with another source of power loss, it will also shut down the generator.

ABILITY TO DELAY ATS ACTIVATION

The generator Controller’s ability to delay ATS activation is one of our most popular features. It allows you to wait until you’re ready before activating your generator, which can be especially useful in emergencies.

For example, if you’re experiencing a power outage and want to ensure that your home’s temperature is comfortable before moving forward with the activation process. Or maybe you’re concerned about how long it will take for your generator to be fully operational after being activated—and don’t want to waste any more time than necessary!

Whatever the reason, Generator Controller makes it easy (and comfortable) for you to decide when it’s time to activate your generator.

WHAT DOES A GENERATOR CONTROLLER DISPLAY?

The generator control panel displays information such as:

  • The engine speed of your generator (in RPMs)

  • The load being drawn from the generator by connected appliances (in kVA)

  • The voltage being produced by the generator (in VAC)

  • The hours of operation since the last service

  • The generator’s current fuel level (in Litres)

  • The number of hours left before needing a service (in hours)

  • The status of the automatic voltage regulator (AVR)

  • The status of the start-up circuit breaker (SUCB)

  • The status of the fuel pump (FP)

  • The status of the anti-surge (AS) circuit breaker

  • The status of the load control relay (LCR)

  • The status of the generator’s battery charger (BC)

  • The status of the generator’s internal breaker (IB)

  • The status of the overload relay (OLR)

  • The status of the low oil pressure indicator light (LOPL)

  • The status of any error codes

HOW DOES A GENERATOR CONTROL PANEL WORK?

Generator control panels are responsible for starting and stopping the generator, monitoring its status, and ensuring it runs safely.

The panel’s components include:

  • A circuit breaker to protect against overloads (OLR)

  • A start-up circuit breaker (SUCB)

  • An automatic voltage regulator (AVR)

  • An automatic voltage regulator (AVR)

  • A battery charger (BC)

  • An internal breaker (IB)

  • An overload relay (OLR)

  • A low oil pressure indicator light (LOPL)

  • An automatic transfer switch (ATS)

  • A ground fault interrupter (GFI)

The generator control panel is connected to the generator by a cable. This cable carries information about the generator’s status, such as voltage output and oil pressure. The panel lets you start and stop the generator using a remote control device. The generator control panel also contains an internal breaker (IB). This is a safety device that trips if the generator’s voltage output exceeds prescribed limits. The IB protects you and your equipment from electrical fires and shock. The generator control panel also contains an internal breaker (IB).

  • The control panel has built-in sensors that tell it whether or not it’s getting enough fuel to keep running correctly. If there’s a problem with fuel delivery, it’ll shut down immediately until the issue is resolved.

  • The control panel also has built-in sensors that ensure you’re getting enough electricity from the grid to keep things running smoothly—if there isn’t enough voltage coming through, it’ll shut down immediately until the issue is resolved.

  • It also monitors the temperature, so if anything gets too hot or too cold (like when something gets too close to overheating), it’ll shut down immediately until the issue is resolved.

The controller is important because it makes the entire system cohesive and allows for a user-friendly experience. The controller ensures that all the system parts work together, which means a user can access every system element without requiring special knowledge of how or why it works.
